State Senator Mark Pody (R-Lebanon) is inviting all Tennesseans who visit the Wilson County – Tennessee State Fair this month to explore the lifesize model of the Wilderness Tabernacle on display through August 24.

The Wilson County – Tennessee State Fair, held at the James E. Ward Agriculture Center in Lebanon, runs from August 15 – August 24. The State Fair opens on weekdays at 5 p.m., Saturdays at 10 a.m., and Sunday at 12 p.m.

The Wilderness Tabernacle display is located at the southwest end of the fairgrounds next to the Pig Races and K-9’s in Flight areas.

“In Exodus 25, God was telling Moses, and they just escaped from Egypt, God’s telling Moses, ‘I want to have you build a place that I can dwell with my people.’ It’s called the Wilderness Tabernacle. Now, a lot of people might remember Raiders of the Lost Ark. This is the ark that they would be looking for and this is the place where the high priest would be able to meet with God once a year. Only he could go in to meet with God. We have built this at the State Fair, so for anybody that gets into the State Fair, this exhibit is free,” Pody explained on The Michael Patrick Leahy Show.

Pody said the exhibit is a life-size model of the Wilderness Tabernacle and displays artifacts donated and lent from places and individuals across the nation.

“We’ve been able to bring things in from across the country. We have people fly in, that are experts on this that study it. They’ve been studying it for decades and they bring in their artifacts and such and come in, and most of them just donated for the time that we have it set up. We are excited about having it here,” Pody said.

Pody added that the exhibit has allowed him to grow in his faith and learn more about the Old Testament.

“I will tell you that one of the neat things about this is I’ve learned so much more about the Old Testament when I started doing this…It’s taught me a lot,” Pody said.
